Researchers Dr. Ian Vázquez and Dr. Ramzy Kahhat represented PELCAN at the TianGong LCA Forum 2026, held on March 25–26, 2026 in Nanjing, China. The forum was held alongside the UNEP Global LCA Platform workshop, organised by the Life Cycle Initiative (hosted by UNEP), in collaboration with Tsinghua University and the Carbon Footprint Alliance.
The forum brought together international experts in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to tackle current challenges in a fragmented global landscape regarding life cycle databases. Participants discussed strategies to enhance global interconnection and interoperability of LCA systems and databases, under the central theme: Global Interconnection, Interoperability, and Mutual Trust for LCA and Carbon Footprint Systems.
Dr. Ian Vázquez presented “Efforts to regionalize life cycle databases and methods in the Peruvian context”, and Dr. Ramzy Kahhat presented “Peru’s road to hybrid LCA”. Both showcasing the main efforts conducted in Peru to build a national LCA database, as well as developing new assessment methods for regionalized impact pathways.
Their participation reflects Peru’s growing contribution to the international dialogue on LCA and carbon footprint systems, consolidating PELCAN as a Latin American reference in this field.
