The week of April 23, 2018 the professors of the Peruvian Life Cycle and Industrial Ecology Network (PELCAN) Ramzy Kahhat and Ian Vázquez participated in research and teaching activities at the University of Cantabria, invited by professors Rubén Aldaco and María Margallo, of the Department of Chemical Engineering of said University.
The main activity of the week was the thesis of Jara Laso Cortabitarte, entitled “From life cycle thinking to eco-innovation: nexus of ideas for the environmental management of the Cantabrian anchovy industry“. Jara Laso made a doctoral stay between February and June 2016 in PELCAN-PUCP, under the tutelage of Professor Vázquez. From this experience, two scientific articles appeared in indexed journals, as well as the beginning of an institutional collaboration between PELCAN and the University of Cantabria.
Dr. Laso, advised by professors Rubén Aldaco and María Margallo, obtained the qualification of Outstanding Cum Laude. The defense court of her thesis was composed of the main professor of PELCAN Ramzy Kahhat, as well as the professor Inmaculada Ortiz (University of Cantabria), and the professor Pere Fullana (Universitat Pompeu Fabra).
